Lyon 88 to 58 Defeats Nagoya Gakuin

On Day 2 of the BLIA Cup International University Basketball Tournament elimination games, the 4th match-up was between France’s University of Lyon and Nagoya Gakuin University of Japan. Within the first 15 seconds of the game, Lyon's Johan Pericard scored 3 points. Faced against the strong offense of Lyon’s tall players, Nagoya quickly lost confidence. Nagoya was unable to defend themselves against Lyon and at the end of the 1st quarter, Nagoya was down 11-22.
During the 2nd quarter, Nagoya continued to struggle. Although Hirohito Fukuoka scored 3 points and Hirohito Higashi, together with Katsura Higashi, scored 10 points, Nagoya fell to Lyon 24-47.
With their strong advantage, Lyon eased into the 2nd half of the game with full control. Lyon's 260 cm tall Jonathan Kyungu made easy shots, scoring 8 points. With the addition of the 214 cm tall Stanislas Heili scoring 2 points, Lyon’s beautiful teamwork pushed their lead over Nagoya to 71-44.
The final quarter appeared to be the shining moment of Lyon's Remy Maroquenne, who had 8 points from a combination of shots and assists. Despite Nagoya’s defensive efforts, they were unable to make any progress. In the end, Lyon defeated Nagoya 88-58 with the largest lead since the start of the competition.
Lyon's Johan Pericard finished with 15 points, followed by Julian Troesch and David Haziza, who scored 13 points each. The high scorers for Nagoya were Takumi Muratori with 14 points and Wang Weijia with 12.
